Despite flexible sealing, still diffusion-open and breathable
Product DescriptionThis product is a liquid plastic that can be used pure with the AREXAL® - Roof and Facade Slurry.
From the listed mineral products, a permanently elastic and flexible building material with comprehensive applications is formed.
Applications
AREXAL®- Additive Component (liquid) is used for flexible surface sealing of buildings in interior and exterior areas against ground moisture, non-pressing surface and seepage water, especially on tension-prone substrates. Flat roofs, pipe penetrations, cable entries, balcony and terrace sealing, roof drains, wall connections, and all movable building materials.
AREXAL®- Additive Component (liquid) is suitable for sealing exterior basement walls made of concrete and masonry, retaining walls, concrete floor slabs, balconies, and terraces, as well as for bonding flexible joint tapes.
The product is ideally suited for permanently sealing flat roofs, for which the use of AREXAL®- Roof and Facade Slurry is necessary!
As a substrate for plasters of the mortar groups PI, PH, and PHI (lime, lime-cement, and cement plasters) as well as for tiles and slabs, the AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) can also be used.
The AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) also scores with its diffusion openness against water vapor pressure and acts simultaneously as a diffusion barrier against carbon dioxide (carbonation brake).
The AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) also offers convincing adhesion to cleaned concrete surfaces. It ensures water impermeability and meets the requirements of the WHG §19 coating against transformer and light heating oil.
Properties
- has high adhesive strength and cures without shrinkage and cracking
- can bridge cracks due to its bending and stretching capability
- AREXAL® - Additive Component (liquid) is tested and monitored according to DIN
- is impermeable to water
- is suitable as a WHG §19 coating against transformer and light heating oil

AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) is a liquid product. Skin formation in the work vessel can be avoided by covering the vessel.
Mixing Instructions
AREXAL®-crystalline Waterproofing Slurry mix thoroughly. It is recommended to use a mixing device.
If the consistency is not sufficient, add a little more AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid).
Apply AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) in at least 2 stages with consistent consistency using a brush or by rolling with a paint roller. Maintain the required layer thickness at corners and edges. Each additional application is carried out after sufficient curing (earliest after about 6 hours, temperature dependent).
For bonding flexible joint tapes, first pre-coat with AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid). Insert the joint tape and repaint the lateral fabric. Mix the prepared sealing slurry within 1 hour, AREXAL®-Additive Component (liquid) can be removed from the tools with water when fresh.
Protect fresh coatings from sun, cold, and wind and keep moist if necessary.
Protect finished surfaces from mechanical damage; backfill excavations in accordance with VOB regulations. Clean the tools with clean water. Delivery containers and material residues also. Mixing containers must be disposed of in accordance with the legally prescribed disposal. Disposal key in the hardened state: LGA No. 314 09 EWC No. 17 01 01
Processing
- Clean the substrate of dust and loose parts; otherwise, VOB regulations apply
- Substrates of fine-pored concrete B15 must be free of gravel nests, cracks, burrs, and edges
- Gravel nests in the concrete must be closed with AREXAL®-crystalline sealing slurry before surface sealing
- Chisel out metal parts 1.5 cm deep; the substrate must be pre-moistened capillary-saturated; remove standing water (surface matte moist)
- Masonry with joints must be plastered with AREXAL®-crystalline sealing slurry
- with masonry made of calcium silicate or concrete hollow blocks fully jointed with cement mortar, ArexA-Elastic slurry can be applied directly. Do not process at temperatures below +5°C, in case of expected frost or on frozen substrates
- each additional application is carried out after sufficient curing (earliest after about 6 hours, temperature dependent)
- prevent intensive, direct sunlight e.g., in midsummer or strong drying by wind during application (e.g., by hanging up tarps)
- during the processing time and 72 hours afterwards, the substrate and material temperature must be at least +5°C and a maximum of +30°C, the relative humidity should not exceed 80%
- the rules for processing cement-bound building materials apply
Please wear protective clothing, safety goggles, and gloves when working. Avoid creating excessive dust (cement dust)! Do not smoke, drink, or eat during processing. In case of skin contact and splashes into the eyes, immediately rinse with clean water for at least 15 minutes. It is recommended to have an eye wash bottle with a sterile solution ready to thoroughly rinse the eyes. Then consult an ophthalmologist immediately. Please refer to the safety data sheets and the regulations of the professional associations regarding the handling of cement-bound materials.
