AREXAL® - Hydro - Beton

Product information "AREXAL® - Hydro - Beton"

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is a permanent impregnation penetrating up to 20 cm deep
(No chemicals or chlorides) - lasting protection for your structure

What is Hydrophobization?

Hydrophobization is the prevention of water transport in the capillary system of concrete for all open-pored cementitious or mineral surfaces, both inside and outside.

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete forms a highly water- and dirt-repellent surface that is very easy to clean. It prevents moss, fungus, or algae growth. It protects the material against efflorescence, air pollution, and UV radiation.

Furthermore, it provides transparent protection on all types of walls / concrete surfaces and maintains the natural look. AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is colorless, odorless, solvent-free, non-flammable, and non-toxic. It does not leave a film layer but a clear and natural surface.

In the commercial sector, AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is most often used for natural surfaces and is repellent against water, all types of liquids (oil, grease, red wine, coffee, etc.), simple paint, and environmental influences.

Old (untreated) stones and bricks regain their original appearance, become impermeable to water, and are permanently protected.
In addition, "drying out" and protection against penetrating rain reduce heating and energy costs.

Typical areas are walls, floors, ceilings, chimneys, roof tiles, patios, flat roofs, and swimming pools made of concrete.

How does AREXAL® Hydro Concrete work

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete impregnates all open-pored cementitious or mineral surfaces, both inside and outside.

It includes any kind of concrete, screed, brick, clay, clinker, and various stones (e.g., sandstone, terracotta, brick, etc.). AREXAL® Hydro Concrete forms a highly water- and dirt-repellent surface, preventing moss, fungus, or algae growth and is very easy to clean. The surface treated with AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is protected from salt efflorescence, air pollution, and UV rays.

Properties
  • colorless, odorless, solvent-free, non-flammable, and non-toxic
  • leaves no film layer but a transparent, clear, and natural surface
  • water-soluble potassium methylsilanetriolate with organic catalyst, non-film forming, highly capillary-active, non-flammable
  • impregnates mineral building materials up to a depth of 200 mm (with one to max. two applications, wet on wet) and hydrophobizes the surface
Material

Pure natural product based on water-soluble potassium methylsilanetriolate with organic catalyst, ready to use.

Application

Before use, turn the container upside down and shake well. AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is most easily and evenly applied with a standard pressure sprayer. For small areas, a roller, brush, or sponge can also be used. To avoid puddling, the surface to be treated should be thinly and evenly wetted. AREXAL® Hydro Concrete must not be diluted and only transferred into unused containers. As a rule, one treatment is sufficient. For highly absorbent surfaces, a further treatment – wet on wet – is recommended.

Caution

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is hydrophobic, therefore, do not apply it to surfaces that will be treated with other materials.
Applying paint, etc., is not possible after treatment with AREXAL® Hydro Concrete.

Use

Basically, AREXAL® Hydro Concrete is a surface sealant with depth effect for all types of concrete, stone types (such as brick, sand-lime brick, granite, slate, etc.), cement plaster, and unglazed tiles.

It can be used on these materials if the surfaces are to be completely sealed and protected against water and acids, but not further treated or painted. The range of applications is very broad.

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete does not work on treated surfaces and materials.

Please check carefully whether your concrete, stone, or plaster, etc., has been chemically treated.

AREXAL® Hydro Concrete can only be used on natural concrete, stones, tiles, or bricks. In rare cases, some newer concretes and stones have been treated with additives, which can cause a color deviation. If unsure, apply AREXAL® Hydro Concrete to an inconspicuous area for testing and wait 2 days.

Suitable Surfaces
  • Brick facades (sealing, stone restoration, energy cost reduction, joint sealing) - e.g., in monument restoration
  • Unsealed stone floors (sand-lime brick, sandstone, granite, slate, terracotta, basalt, etc.)
  • Kitchen countertops, bathroom shelves, window sills made of unsealed stone
  • Non-glazed tiles (e.g., terracotta, granite, slate, etc.)
  • Exterior walls and masonry made of natural-looking stones
  • Mineral plasters (without chemical or water-repellent substances)
  • Garage floors with exposed concrete look (against oil stains, etc.)
  • Roof tiles (unglazed made of clay or concrete) - are sealed (replace broken ones first!)
  • Swimming pools made of exposed concrete (treat with AREXAL® Hydro Concrete beforehand)
  • Sealing of joints in showers, wet rooms, swimming pools
  • Chimneys (made of brick or other stone types with natural look)
  • Screed floors (e.g., as industrial floors, etc.)
  • Flat roofs (treat with AREXAL® Hydro Concrete beforehand)
  • Eternit panels (e.g., as house cladding or corrugated eternit panels for the roof)
  • Fountains and garden facilities made of concrete and stone
  • Terracotta flower pots (retain their natural look and become frost-proof)
